Hilton Head Massage Therapy Advice on Pain - IT Band & Hip Issues
Ever wonder why your hip is bothering you? You could be suffering with issues involving your IT Band. This is the tract of connective tissue that goes from your hip to your knee. It is responsible for stabilizing your walk. if you have issues with the connective tissue on the bottom of your feet, plantar fascia, this can be a major factor with IT Band issues.
What to do.
This is an involved topic, and I will try to deal with in pieces.
start with being sure your shoes offer adequate support for the arch. FLIP FLOPS ARE YOUR ENEMY! They absolutely destroy your arch! if you need more support, that is, if you are having pain in the bottom of your feet caused by tight plantar fascia, then you MUST stretch out the fascial tissue in one of two ways.
You can stand on frozen bottles of water, or cans, golf balls or avocado pits. ANYTHING that will create a stretch. Support is HUGE!
More on this subject later!
